2026 YOUTH WEEK Financial Support Program

Youth Week 2026

The Youth Week Financial Support Program has been designed to support local services and community groups to work in with young people to develop and deliver activities during Youth Week across the Parramatta Local Government Area. 

Youth Week is a celebration of young people, organised by young people for young people. It is an opportunity for young people aged between 12 - 24 years to: 

  • Share their ideas
  • Attend events
  • Have their voices heard on issues of concern to them
  • Showcase young people's contributions to community
  • develop and grow their leadership 
  • Plan, deliver and take part in activities
  • Have fun! 
  • Fostering inclusion and encouraging participation should be central to all initiatives.

WHO CAN APPLY?

You can apply for funding if you are an applicant that is: 

  • Located within the boundaries of the Parramatta Local Government Area and/or principally provide services to Parramatta residents. 
  • An incorporated not for profit organisation or come under the auspice of an incorporated not for profit organisation. 
  • High schools and Student Representative Councils are eligible to apply (with sign off from the P & C or Principal).
  • Applicants must have the appropriate level of insurance for any funded activity. Evidence of public liability insurance will need to be provided. 

FUNDING INFORMATION AND TIMELINES

The total funding available for the 2026 Youth Week program is $19,000. 

  • Applicants can apply for up to $1,900 (ex GST).
  • Applicants are encouraged to work in partnership with other service providers.
  • One application per service/group
  • Applications will be assessed by a panel of young people who will meet in December 2025.
  • The assessment panel will provide their recommendations for funding support to Council for approval.
  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the funding support program in January 2026.
  • Successful applicants will receive their payments by February 2026. 
  • The Parramatta Youth Week program will be uploaded to the NSW Youth Week and Council websites in February 2026.
  • Council will promote eligible activities through various social media platforms in February and March 2026.

WHAT CAN YOU APPLY FOR?

Funding support is available for a range of activities including workshops, skills development programs, debates, arts and music projects, forums, sporting activities and health and wellbeing activities on the condition that applicants are responding to young people's needs or aspirations:

Provide young people aged 12 - 24 years with an opportunity to express their views and act on issues that impact on their lives.

  1. Raise the issues and concerns of young people and develop strategies to address these.
  2. Increase the community's awareness of young people and the issues which are important to them.
  3. Highlight young people's contributions to the community.
  4. Acknowledges diversity and inclusion.
  5. Encourages young people's participation.

Recipient Obligations

Funding support conditions and agreement.

If approved, your application will serve as a funding agreement and is binding.

I agree to meet the following conditions. 

  • Young people will be involved in the planning, coordination and/or delivery of activities.
  • Commit to engage young people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
  • Effort is made to include young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and experiences, who are disadvantaged due to their socio-economic or health and wellbeing circumstances, LGBTQIA+, young people who have left school or are at risk of leaving school early, young women or young offenders.
  • All activities must take place during Youth Week.
  • Budget items should be based on the cost of operating the Youth Week activities and show in-kind contributions and provide quotations of proposed budget items.
  • Complete and submit a project evaluation to Council no later than Monday 4 May 2026. This must include evidence of your activity’s social impact. (This can include a case study/story).
  • If your application is successful, you will be provided with the project evaluation form prior to youth week.
  • Provide Council with evidence including promotional materials, photographs.
  • Obtain consent from participants and/their carers where possible, using Councils form, and provide Council with photographs (these may be used by Council or DCJ for future promotions).
  • Notify Council of any variations that need to be made to your activity, prior to the activity. 
  • Acknowledge the City of Parramatta Council and NSW Youth Week in all promotional materials.
  • Please note that failure to meet the funding support requirements outlined in this agreement with Council may affect your eligibility for future funding opportunities.

 

Neither the State of NSW, City of Parramatta Council or its employees, contractors or representatives will be responsible or liable for any loss, damage or claim suffered or made by any person which arises out of/ or is in connection with any Youth Week activities which are organised, coordinated or funded by the funding recipient.
