Community Events Overview

The City of Parramatta Council offers an Annual Community Grants Program aligned with the financial year period. This program supports events organised by eligible not-for-profit organisations, community groups, professional associations, and in certain cases, individuals who are auspiced by an organisation. It is intended for the public events to be held within the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). 

Grants are available to those involved in various types of events, including but not limited to arts, community, cultural and sporting events. Through the community events grants, Council aims to establish and promote public events in the City of Parramatta that: 

  • Are low-cost or free to the public.
  • Provide a fresh offering that compliments the Parramatta events calendar.
  • Attract new visitors to the City.
  • Deliver social, community, recreational and cultural benefits to the people of Parramatta and visitors. 
  • Are presented within the Parramatta local government area and principally benefit Parramatta residents. 

Assessment Criteria

Criteria A - 25%

  • Extent to which the project addresses Council's vision statement and one or more of Council's Strategic Pillars.

Criteria B - 15%

  • Extent to which this event is unique, signature or one-of-a-kind to Parramatta.

Criteria C - 15 %

  • Event location held outside of the Central Business District but within the Local Government Area.

Criteria D - 15%

  • Extent to which the organisation has articulated clear details of the event purpose, activities, budget and event management plans. 

Criteria E - 10%

  • Extent to which the event will promote Parramatta to a metro/national audience. 

Criteria F - 10%

  • Demonstrated inclusiveness and engagement with Parramatta and the broader community to attend. 

Criteria G - 10%

  • Extend to which the application demonstrates the importance for a connection to the City of Parramatta or our Community. 

Criteria H - 10%

  • Extent to which the event promotes a Council open space, facility, park or a venue.
